Cement Producers Association in Iraq and the College of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology Sign Scientific Cooperation Framework*

The Cement Producers Association in Iraq, represented by its President, Eng. Ammar Rahim Abdullah Al-Saedi, and the University of Technology / College of Chemical Engineering, represented by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukkar, have signed a framework for joint scientific cooperation in the fields of research, studies, and training.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Maher Faik Ismail, Technical Advisor to the Association, along with a distinguished group of faculty members from the College.

The cooperation framework aims to strengthen collaboration in conducting joint research and studies related to cement manufacturing and production, developing modern technologies, promoting the use of alternative fuels, and reducing carbon emissions. It also seeks to provide training and professional development opportunities for the College’s students and graduates.

The signing of this cooperation framework follows the approval granted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the Cement Producers Association in Iraq to engage in cooperation within the scope of the Association’s areas of specialization and objectives stipulated in its internal regulations, in alignment with academic, scientific, and educational fields. This approval was issued pursuant to the Ministry’s Department of Studies and Planning Letter No. 211196 dated 21 February 2026.

The College of Chemical Engineering emphasized that this initiative represents an important step toward strengthening partnership with the industrial sector and establishing stronger links between educational and scientific research outcomes and the needs of the labor market. The cooperation is expected to contribute to the advancement of the Iraqi cement industry based on the principles of efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.
