The Cement Producers Association in Iraq participated in a scientific symposium held on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, at the University of Technology / College of Chemical Engineering, under the patronage and attendance of the University President, Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukar.

The symposium was organized in cooperation with the Iraqi Cement Producers Association, Karbala Cement Company, and the College of Engineering at Al-Turath University.

The symposium witnessed the opening of a mini exhibition on the cement industry at the college, showcasing models, products, and technologies related to Iraq’s cement manufacturing sector.

During the symposium, the Chairman of the Iraqi Cement Producers Association, Engineer Ammar Rahim Abdullah Al-Saedi, delivered a scientific presentation providing a detailed analysis of the current state of the cement industry in Iraqi plants, production levels, and the prospects for sector development in Iraq in line with the Cement Industry Vision 2030. The presentation focused on the challenges of reducing carbon emissions and the pathways for adopting modern technologies that support environmental sustainability, including artificial intelligence applications.

The symposium also addressed several key themes. An engineer from Karbala Cement Industry Company delivered a comprehensive presentation to the audience on cement manufacturing processes and the mechanisms and technologies used to enhance production efficiency and quality. The symposium further highlighted the role of universities and academic institutions in supporting and advancing the cement sector through scientific research and practical applications, fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange among researchers, specialists, and decision-makers in this vital field, as well as discussing the latest engineering and chemical technologies employed to improve production efficiency.

The symposium further aims to strengthen cooperation between the University of Technology, the College of Engineering, the Association and its member companies in the field of student training for undergraduate as well as master’s and PhD students, and in conducting research projects.
