Today, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the association’s headquarters, the Chairman of the Iraqi Cement Manufacturers Association, Eng. Ammar Rahim Abdullah Al-Saadi, received Dr. Maitham Adham Al-Zubaidi, Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers for Competition and Anti-Monopoly Affairs.
The President of the Iraqi Cement Producers Association, Eng. Ammar Rahim Abdullah Al-Saedi, received Dr. Maitham Adham Al-Zubaidi, Deputy Chairman of the Competition and Antitrust Council, at the Association's headquarters on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The President of the Association provided a brief explanation of the Association and its member companies, and their role in protecting, modernizing, and developing the cement industry and working effectively with governmental and non-governmental entities to overcome obstacles that could impact the cement industry's production capacity. He also highlighted the Association's role in communicating with Arab and international institutions specializing in cement to exchange technical expertise and learn about the latest developments in this strategic industry. He also explained the Association's vision for the cement industry 2025-2030, which provides a clear picture of the future of the cement industry in Iraq. For his part, Dr. Al-Zubaidi explained the responsibilities of the Competition and Anti-trust Council, which aims to consolidate the concepts of fair competition within the market, prevent monopolistic practices, and integrate the roles of the National Product Protection Law, the Competition and Antitrust Law, and the Consumer Protection Law. At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to hold a workshop in the coming period at all administrative levels in cement companies. This workshop will introduce employees to the concept of competition and anti-monopoly by presenting the relevant laws. This workshop is based on the principle of integration between state institutions, associations, and industrial unions, the concept of competitive neutrality and its impact on providing a fair market environment that provides all economic actors with equal opportunities for growth and competition, and the role of the state and the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Council in ensuring equal opportunities between public and private companies, both local and foreign. This cooperation aims to strengthen competition policy and transparency in the market and promote the cement sector as a pillar of the national economy. The meeting was attended by Dr. Maher Faeq Ismail, the association's technical advisor.
